Smile Makeover FAQs
If you are not fully satisfied with your smile, you may have considered a smile makeover. You probably have questions, though, so with that in mind, we have assembled some of the most common smile makeover FAQs. They should give you a basic understanding of some of the processes involved and help you to make your decision.
What Is a Smile Makeover?
This is probably the most common of the smile makeover FAQs. A smile makeover is any procedure or procedures that your dentist can offer in order to improve your smile.
How Do I Know if I am a Good Candidate for a Smile Makeover?
A visit to your dentist is the best way to find out. Most people can benefit from a smile makeover, but if you have tooth decay or gum disease, those conditions will need to be corrected before you can proceed with a smile makeover.
What Are the Most Common Procedures?
The procedures you will consider will depend on what you want to change. The most common ones, though, are teeth whitening and porcelain veneers.
How Long Does a Smile Makeover Take?
It depends on the nature of the procedures you are having. You could, for instance, have a teeth whitening treatment done in about an hour. Porcelain veneers require one or two visits. Dental implant surgery can be done in a day, but then you need several months to heal before the implants can be installed and the crowns placed.
Will My Dental Insurance Cover the Cost of a Smile Makeover?
If your treatment is purely cosmetic, it is very unlikely that your insurance will cover much, if any, of the cost. However, if the main purpose is restorative (for example, if you have taken a blow to the mouth and need crowns to repair your teeth), your insurer will probably help.
